History

In 2004 Republicans were engulfed in a campaign that was more intense and more dependent on the “grass roots” than any that I can recall.  As Bush-Cheney Coordinator for Butler County, it was my job to set up a headquarters, recruit volunteers, plan a visit from the Vice President, organize phone banks, distribute yard signs, and get out the vote.  It could not have been done without the work of a terrific team of volunteers!

Some of these volunteers had never been active in a campaign before, but they wanted George W. Bush returned to the White House.  Everyone pitched in, and we not only met our goal, we exceeded it by 20,000 votes!

Not of all of our volunteers were women, but those who were felt a kinship that led us to form the Republican Women of Butler County.  We range in age from our 20’s to our 80’s.  Our group includes business professionals, stay-at-home moms, elected officials, teachers, lawyers, entrepreneurs and retirees.   We are women who believe that freedom is only guaranteed if we fight to preserve it by becoming part of the political process, by voting and encouraging others to vote.  And we believe that we have a great power to get things accomplished as we did in 2004!

In October 2005, we hosted a forum for gubernatorial candidates that brought all four GOP candidates to Butler County.  To the best of my knowledge, it was the only event where all four appeared together in the state! Our members have assisted the Butler County Republican Committee’s efforts at the Butler County Fair and Farm Show. We have raised money, and we now have a treasury that allows us to set up and maintain a website that will spotlight GOP events throughout Butler County. Our members are committed to promoting Republican candidates, and we look forward to the Presidential election of 2008 when we will again put Butler County in the GOP column!

If you have an interest in getting involved in Republican politics, WE WANT YOU!  Our membership is open to any woman who is registered Republican, and we even have a number of gentlemen who have joined us as auxiliary members!  We hope to see you soon at an RWBC meeting!

Sincerely,
Pat Stirling, RWBC Past President
